On August 21, Taiwan Otsuka Pharmaceutical hosted a special lecture titled
“Igniting the Drive Within: Seeing Possibilities from a New Perspective,”
featuring Ms. Lai Pei-Wen, founder of MUVE Nonprofit Organization.

The session introduced employees to eye-gaze technology from a new perspective,
exploring how technology can create greater opportunities for people with disabilities to learn,
express themselves, and participate more fully in society.

During the lecture, Ms. Lai shared MUVE Nonprofit Organization’s long-standing experience.
in applying eye-gaze technology to education and support.
By enabling users to operate a computer with their eyes, the technology allows people with limited mobility
or verbal communication abilities to communicate and learn, while also opening up new possibilities for employment.

The session also featured picture books created by people with disabilities using eye-gaze assistive devices and software.
Through these works, participants gained insight into their personal experiences and inner journeys.
Documentary footage of families living with disabilities further offered employees a glimpse into the real-life stories and everyday moments behind the technology.

Employees also had the opportunity to experience eye-gaze technology firsthand, using only their eyes to interact, communicate, and learn.
Through this experience, they discovered that technology can do more than change.
the way people operate devices—it can expand possibilities and create new ways for individuals to engage with the world.

Ms. Lai also encouraged participants to approach difficult challenges
by looking beyond limitations and reasons why something cannot be done.
Instead, she emphasized the importance of first asking what might be possible,
exploring alternative approaches, and finding new ways forward.
By doing so, individuals can create more options for themselves and take a more proactive role
in driving change rather than simply waiting for it to happen.

Through continued opportunities for dialogue and hands-on experiences across a wide range of topics,
Taiwan Otsuka Pharmaceutical hopes to deepen employees’ understanding of different perspectives,
encourage new ways of thinking, and inspire each individual
to discover new possibilities and cultivate the inner drive to create positive change.
