Taiwan Otsuka Pharmaceutical Visits TFRD Welfare Center to Deepen Understanding of Rare Diseases Through Action on April 10, 2026

Taiwan Otsuka Pharmaceutical recently took part in an exchange activity at TFRD Welfare Center in Guanxi, Hsinchu.
Through hands-on DIY activities, interactive experiences, and the sharing of personal stories alongside residents from Longtan Intellectual Disability Training Home, employees gained a deeper and more personal understanding of issues surrounding rare diseases, while building greater empathy and connection.

The event was jointly planned with the Taiwan Foundation for Rare Disorders.
Through a variety of thoughtfully arranged activities, employees were able to learn about the everyday realities faced by individuals and families living with rare diseases from multiple perspectives.
During the event, residents and employees created DIY crafts together, while interactive games designed by Rare Home
offered participants a chance to experience some of the physical limitations and inconveniences that patients may encounter in daily life.
These activities helped foster a more concrete understanding of the challenges they may face in mobility, self-care, and adapting to everyday living.

In addition, staff from TFRD Welfare Center shared knowledge about rare diseases and introduced the diverse needs of patients and their families in areas such as medical care, daily support, and psychological adjustment.
The event also featured a rare disease artisan, who shared a personal story about accompanying a child through life’s journey, offering a heartfelt glimpse into the resilience and strength that families can show in the face of illness.
At the close of the event, employees of Taiwan Otsuka Pharmaceutical also shared their reflections, responding to the emotions and insights they had gained through the day’s exchange.

Through this meaningful visit, Taiwan Otsuka Pharmaceutical hopes to continue paying close attention to social issues through concrete action,
and to serve as one of the supporting forces helping related services at TFRD Welfare Center continue moving forward.
